“Reshaping the European Fund Landscape“

2021 was a transition year for ESG and sustainable investing as regulators around the globe strived to further their ESG policies while heightening scrutiny of ESG-related disclosures. This is especially true in Europe, where the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation introduced in March has started to reshape the European fund landscape. A the end of 2021, assets in European funds marketed as green hit 4 trillion euros — almost 40% of all assets managed in European Union-domiciled funds. That is up from about 2 trillion euros in April last year shortly after the rules were introduced. The growth is down to growing investor interest in ESG and sustainability issues, especially climate change, and the expanding range of options available. We expect this trend to continue this year as ESG becomes the norm and more funds are repurposed into green options.

Hortense Bioy will present the latest trends in the ESG and the European sustainable fund landscape in terms of flows, assets, product development (with a focus on climate funds), and how regulation (SFDR, EU taxonomy, UK SDR, …) is reshaping the European fund landscape.
